Procedure: Gather the information: Cody must first find and choose three career possibilities. Cody must research what the jobs entail, and if he would like these careers based on what he finds out about responsibilities involved in holding this job. Use the following Websites to help you:

Cody's parents will then research grants and/or scholarships that Cody qualifies for so that they won't have to pay so much--money has been tight lately, and the cost of education has risen faster than they expected. They must settle on three grants/scholarships for Cody. Use these sites to get you started:

Once Cody makes choices, Counselor Jobs takes over and researches colleges and/or universities that offer classes in all three of the areas Cody is interested in. Counselor Jobs must select three colleges/universities that will best suit Cody's needs. Things to consider:

Since Cody is just beginning high school, Dr. Class wants Cody to get the best of these years by recommending high school classes that the colleges/universities require, as well as courses that would be helpful for Cody, so that college years won't be so difficult.

Organize the Information: Using concept mapping strategies, each member of the group must organize their thoughts methodically into a visual form of some sort. Some examples of concept maps are included at the link below, but you may use one of your own choosing:
You may also choose to use the Inspiration program if your computer has it. This is an excellent program for organizing your thoughts and then converting them into outline format. |
Create and practice your presentation: Once you have organized your information, work together to create and present the information to the class. As a team, develop your ideas into a multimedia presentation. Each person in the group is responsible for creating their part of the presentation. You may choose to do this in Microsoft PowerPoint, or Microsoft Windows MovieMaker. The more creative the better. Once the multimedia presentation is created, practice your presentation as a group so that it looks professional. Critique each other for the following:
